Update on the integration of Ethereum Classic in Coinbase

As we announced last week, Coinbase is about to integrate the Ethereum Classic into its Cryptocurrency Exchange. We take stock of the progress of this highly anticipated integration.

Final test for ETC support on Coinbase

In a statement on his blog, Coinbase announces that the tests are almost complete and that the addition of the ETC will be operational today for the platform Prime and Pro.

Today, our engineering team begins the final testing of Ethereum Classic (ETC) support on Coinbase. We are making this announcement as part of our process of adding new assets.

We expect the final tests to be completed by Tuesday August 7th, when we will announce that we are ready to accept incoming ETC transfers. We plan to allow 24 to 48 hours of inbound transfers via  Coinbase Pro and Coinbase Prime before opening the exchange to all our customers.

The impact on the ETCs price

Coinbase Asset Management will also add the ETC to the Coinbase index when it is listed on Coinbase Markets and the “Coinbase Index Fund will rebalance to include ETC”.

Coinbase is undoubtedly one of the largest cryptocurrency trading platforms. ETC will, therefore, benefit from a large boost in terms of visibility, and therefore volume, and certainly price.
We remember in particular the arrival of Bitcoin Cash Coinbase a few months ago that had led to an unprecedented rise in assets. Nevertheless, the latter had relapsed drastically in a very short time.
It will, therefore, be necessary to position yourself to take advantage of the movement.
Currently, Ethereum Classic has gained about 10% in the last 24 hours. It’s worth $ 18.92 at the time of writing.
